Reviews
Dan Kaufman, Australian Centre for Independent Journalism, University of Technology Sydney, Australia - 'It's unique in that it talks about the different plugins that journalists can use. It's also comprehensive in looking at the broad scope of what journalists can do with Wordpress. Any journalist wanting to create their own self-hosted website would get a lot out of this'
Miranda McLachlan, Department of Media and Communications, Goldsmiths, UK - 'This is a very good idea. I am surprised that there has not been a book covering WordPress for journalists before. The proposed book would cover a key subject within most journalism programmes, at both undergraduate and Masters level. So it makes sense to dedicate a whole book to this area. The proposed book's competitors, for the most part, only dedicate a chapter (at most) to this topic, as they tend to be more wide-ranging guides to digital, multimedia or online journalism. I believe many universities would adopt the text. It is great to see that it will cover the important areas of mobile, social, live reporting, video and analytics - and that there will be some discussion of theoretical debates in this area.'
"A thoroughly practical, step-by-step guide to creating a really professional WordPress site. WordPress for Journalists uses a direct and clear approach and is written in an accessible, informal style."
Andy Bull, author of Multimedia Journalism and Brand Journalism
"Considering WordPress's wide digital reach, it is imperative that journalism and media students are able to engage effectively with the content-management system. This book is a concise and comprehensive exploration of the functionalities of WordPress, and the opportunities it offers with regards to creating and managing online content."
Sarah Cooper, Senior Lecturer, Leeds Beckett University, UK
