Description

'She weaves ancient storytelling magic into words of exceptional beauty... Everyone should read Badoe' Sophie Anderson, author of The House with Chicken Legs. A leopard dances under the moon. A wolf prowls. A red-beaked bird flies free. Three girls born on the same day in wolf light are bound together to protect the world. They can dazzle or destroy. They have wind-song and fire-fury at their fingertips, but their enemies are everywhere. From the bleak steppes to the tropical forests of Ghana and the stormy moors of Cornwall, the lands they love are plundered and poisoned. The girls must rally to perfect their skills and prove the strength of sister-magic. Steeped in elemental myth, Wolf Light is a call to us all to hear the ancient power within us and conserve our heritage. Yaba's YA debut novel A Jigsaw of Fire and Stars was shortlisted for the 2018 Branford Boase Award and nominated for the 2018 Carnegie Medal. 'Elemental myth and magic are the beating heart of Wolf Light... Fans of magical realism and powerful women will find much to admire' Observer.

Reviews
Elemental myth and magic are the beating heart of Yaba Badoe's Wolf Light... Badoe's mesmeric prose is the star turn here... Fans of magical realism and powerful women will find much to admire' * Observer *
A challenging and unconventional work of literary fantasy that disrupts expectations. At its best, it sketches out potential pathways for a new children's literature that truly reflects our international and interconnected world * BookTrust *
I adore Yaba Badoe's writing; it's astonishingly brilliant and always invokes a visceral reaction. She weaves ancient storytelling magic into her words... Everyone should read Badoe' -- Sophie Anderson, author of The House of Chicken Legs
This book is told in beautiful, lyrical prose that swept me away... This book has great diverse representation and shows three girls standing up for what they believe in. This novel doesn't lament what we have lost as much as teach us to stand up and fight for what remains' * Midnight Book Girl *
The writing was simply stunning. Yaba Badoe has a way of writing in such a beautiful, poetic style that readers can't help but be drawn into the story she is telling... A beautifully written, poetic piece of fiction all about sisterhood, friendship and trying to do your best for the environment no matter what' * Armadillo *
Another dazzling magic-realist adventure, with powerful messages of feminism and environmentalism * The Bookseller *
Steeped in myth and magic and told in a captivating voice, this is an enthralling tale of sisterhood, ancient duty and the powers that bind' * Children's Books Ireland *
Badoe has a relish for language and write prose which is at times unselfconsciously poetic. Her clever integration of girl power, family relationships (particularly with grandparents), climate consciousness and the cultural beliefs of her three heroines makes for a fascinating story. I was sorry when the tale came to an end * Books for Keeps *

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
