Description

Wrap up warmly and settle down to enjoy these very special Winnie-the-Pooh winter stories.

Talented author Jane Riordan has written this wonderful collection of winter stories that are perfect for Pooh fans of all ages to read in the cold winter months.

'Winter ... winter ... winter is coming. Quickly, quickly, winter is nearly here,' say whispering voices around the Forest. But who is Winter, Pooh and his friends wonder, and how should they be welcomed?

It seems Christopher Robin has a lot to teach his friends about this chillly, magical season, so he sets about giving Pooh the most memorable winter ever; with secret surprises for Christmas and a New Year's Eve midnight feast.

Step into a wintery wonderland with Winnie-the-Pooh and friends in this authorised sequel full of snowflakes, sneezes and secret surprises!

Jane has a strong pedigree writing in the style of A.A.Milne, having also created Once There was a Bear, Winnie-the-Pooh Meets the King and Tales from the Forest.

The stories are beautifully illustrated by Mark Burgess in the style of E.H.Shepard. He also illustrated the other Pooh prequel and sequel collections.

Winter in the Wood

The nation's favourite teddy bear has been delighting generations of children for over 95 years. Milne's classic children's stories - featuring Piglet, Eeyore, Christopher Robin and, of course, Pooh himself - are gently humorous while teaching lessons about friendship and kindness.

Pooh ranks alongside other beloved character such as Paddington Bear, and Peter Rabbit as an essential part of our literary heritage. Whether you're 5 or 55, Pooh is the bear for all ages.

Warming tales for winter, this authorised illustrated story collection is perfect for Pooh fans of all ages and makes a wonderful Christmas gift

About the Author

Jane Riordan originally trained to be a primary school teacher but her love of children's books led to a career in publishing. Since then, she has edited and written countless books for children, most notably Winnie-the-Pooh Tales from the Forest, Winnie-the-Pooh Meets the King, Winnie-the-Pooh Goes to London and Once There Was a Bear.

This authorised sequel is written in the style of the original Winnie-the-Pooh stories by A.A.Milne with illustrations by Mark Burgess that echo E.H.Shepard's iconic original decorations.

Reviews

'Winnie-the-Pooh has always been a very special (albeit funny old) bear, not least of all because his books are filled with wonderful words of wisdom.', Stylist magazine

'Winnie the Pooh is as popular now as he was 95 years ago, not least with collectors', Lancashire Post

'It's so easy as a child to identify with Winnie-the-Pooh. The humour doesn't talk down at you ... Mainly, though, I love the way the characters are so distinct. Even as a child you can recognise the innocence of Piglet or the strange adult qualities of Eeyore. You just know you are with friends and family.' Jim Broadbent in The Telegraph

Praise for Once There Was a Bear:

'Often, the original is the best and any attempts to recreate a classic will simply flop. But with Once There Was a Bear the process was so painstaking, the writing so charming and the illustrations such a lovely echo of the past that reading it feels simultaneously like experiencing the very old and the brand new all at once.', Artists and Illustrators magazine

'For those who don't know the background of the bear bought from Harrods and how he met his friends, it's a treat.', Daily Mail Christmas gift guide

'Not only is Winnie-the-Pooh a much-loved character, the appeal of these stories is enduring. They have followed me through my childhood, into adulthood and, now, I can share these cherished books with the next generation. I'm reminded of the power of reading, of shared stories and connection. There's something wonderful about that.', Northern Soul

'It's the forest where Christopher Robin once played, and here, a new generation are keen to retrace Pooh's history.', WYNT.com

'radiating the warmth and playfulness of the original stories ... a tribute to The Best Bear in All the World - for ages 5 years to 105 years!', MyWeekly

'A collection of brand-new Pooh stories to revel in, to think with and dream about', Bookanista Children's Gift Guide

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
