About the Author
Elizabeth Rusch has published more than a hundred magazine articles for children and adults and ten award-winning books for young readers. Illustrator K. E. Lewis grew up in the Pacific Northwest, and remembers camping on the banks of Spirit Lake and climbing through old lava tubes near Mount St. Helens with her middle school classmates a few years before the 1980 eruption.
