Description

Making infant feeding decisions relies on parents having access to evidence-based information - but when it comes to formula feeding that can be hard to come by. Commercial interests and misunderstandings about the way breastfeeding is promoted can mean that important knowledge about formula feeding is not communicated to parents.

Why Formula Feeding Matters aims to address this situation so that parents can make fully informed choices about how they feed their babies. All infants should be fed as safely and effectively as possible, and benefit from the best evidence we have about feeding practices. If you are formula feeding your baby, or thinking about doing so, this book is for you.

About the Author

Shel Banks is an IBCLC and NHS infant feeding specialist based in Lancashire. She is vice-chair of the UK Association for Milk Banking, a charity which supports milk banks in the provision of donor human milk, and chair of LIFIB, which has been providing evidence-based information about formula and bottle-feeding to health professionals since 2008.

She is committed to evidence-based practice and the fully informed choice of expectant and new parents, and has contributed to three NICE Guidelines (Donor Milk Banking, Postnatal Care and Faltering Growth) and co-authored three Cochrane Systematic Reviews on various aspects of infantile colic.

Shel has a small private practice specialising in unsettled babies, disturbed sleep, formula feeding and faltering growth, and as a tutor for health and social care professionals in the UK and across the world.

Alongside teaching and coaching families and health professionals, Shel has also made a number of TV and radio appearances, including BBC Breakfast and the Channel 4 Dispatches documentary The Great Infant Formula Feeding Scandal.

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
