Description

Now in paperback, this is a superbly presented collection of photographs of Manchester United from its early days until 1992, newly selected from over 10,000 images in the Daily Mirror's archive. These evocative pictures, many previously unpublished, bring to life the important events in United's history: the triumphs of the first trophies, the tragedy of the Munich disaster, the successes that followed. There are glorious images of United icons such as Edwardian superstar Billy Meredith, Sir Matt Busby and his first captain, Johnny Carey, lost 'Babes' Duncan Edwards and Tommy Taylor, and the stars of United's first European Cup-winning side -George Best, Denis Law, Bobby Charlton, Paddy Crerand and Nobby Stiles.

About the Author
Andy Mitten - whose great uncle Charlie Mitten starred in Matt Busby's first great side - started the respected fanzine United We Stand, which he still edits, aged 15 in 1989. A regular writer for FourFourTwo, and a contributor to The Independent, The Mail on Sunday, Sport, The Guardian and GQ in the UK, as well as numerous foreign publications around the world. He has visited 85 countries in every continent, covering games from Israel to the Faroes and interviewed the likes of Ronaldinho, Keane, Gerrard, Messi and John Gidman. Manchester born and red, Andy divides his time between M16 and Barcelona. He has written or co-written nine books including the critically acclaimed 'We're the Famous Man United', Paddy Crerand's autobiography 'Never Turn The Other Cheek' and 'Mad For It - From Blackpool to Barcelona, Football's Greatest Rivalries.'

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
