Description

What the f*ck is the Cloud, and how does it even work?

Ah, The Cloud. It's such a useful bit of tech jargon isn't it? The kind that's casually thrown around in work meetings by bosses who (kind of) understand and maybe even at the nerdier type of dinner or drinks parties. People joke about the cloud while others take it for granted and some worry about this mysterious entity where all of our data is stored, accessible at the touch of a screen from anywhere on Earth. But what even is the cloud, and for that matter, where is the cloud?

Join us on a journey from the very first iterations of the internet that we know and (sometimes) love, all the way through thorny issues of data collection and storage (weren't we all fooled by the 'ten years on' social media trend, even as we rely on cloud-stored photos of cats to cheer us up?) and discover the mysterious place where The Cloud ominously hovers.

About the Author
Kit was once told by a teacher that he would become a writer so, contrarily, he went off and qualified as a scientist, then worked in three or four completely different careers until he'd developed a serious enough coffee drinking habit and owned enough cats to finally pick up a pen. Now, with a brain full of eclectic ideas, he loves writing about technology, science, oh... all sorts of different things. Except author bios. He's never got the hang of writing those. One day he plans on going to Mars. JoAnna has been a science communicator ever since she wrote an essay in 5th grade about giraffes. Now she works as a cartoonist, writer, and editor, doing her best to spread the joy and excitement of scientific pursuit. Throughout her career she has reported, edited, and/or made comics for Gizmodo, Knowable Magazine, The American Scientist, the American Geophysical Union, and NASA's Planetary Science Division. When she's not talking, writing, or drawing cartoons about science, she's either in a forest, dipping her toes in a creek, or hanging out with her cat, Pancake and cornsnake, Banana.

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
