Description

Explore the enchanting world of Welsh fairy tradition as this illustrated guide unveils the enduring presence of these magical beings in Celtic myth and folklore. Join Welsh native Mhara Starling as she shares authentic Welsh beliefs, delves into the connection between magical practitioners and the fair family (Tylwyth Teg), and helps you incorporate these mystical entities into your own spiritual practice if you so choose. Trace the threads of fairy lore from ancient Welsh literature, such as the Mabinogion, to Mhara s contemporary experiences. Uncover the mysteries of the Otherworld (Annwfn), the ethereal realm from which the fae emerge, and meet Gwyn ap Nudd, the Welsh king of fairies. Discover various fairy types and adjacent creatures like goblins and mermaids. More than a collection of stories, this book offers practical guidance and engaging exercises for understanding and interacting with the fair folk.

Reviews

"Much of the material contained in this work existed predominantly in the Welsh language and was unavailable to non-Welsh speakers...Impeccably researched and written in Starling's delectable style, this book offers a new window into an otherworld."

"This is the book on Welsh fairies that the world has needed, a thorough exploration of who these beings are through the lens of the culture they come from."
-Morgan Daimler, author of A New Dictionary of Fairies and Fairy

"This is by far the best book available to introduce Welsh fairy belief to practitioners of magic. It combines intelligence, generosity, excellent research, and long experience."

"An absolute treasure....Perhaps this book's most valuable gift is the lovely, warm, and sincere guidance for building a ritual practice."
-Morpheus Ravenna, author of The Magic of the Otherworld

"Mhara examines the multi-layered relationship our ancestors had with the spirits of the Welsh landscape, its folklore, and its legends. The material in this book provides the reader with both the knowledge and the tools to strengthen their own connection to the spirits of place."
-Vikki Bramshaw, author of New Forest Folklore

"I particularly appreciated the treatment of the historical Welsh Christian cultural context alongside the modern NeoPagan context."

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
