Description

In the follow-up to the #1 Kindle bestseller Walk into Silence, a young girl takes her own life. But what-or who-drove her to it? When a teenager's body is found at the base of the old water tower, Detective Jo Larsen is one of the first on the scene. Tragically, it appears to be a clear case of suicide. But the more Jo learns about Kelly Amster, the more she finds herself needing to understand why the high school sophomore would take that fatal plunge. As they interview family and friends, Jo and her partner, Hank Phelps, begin to fit together the pieces of a dark puzzle. Something happened to Kelly in their small town of Plainfield, Texas-and it sent the young girl straight over the edge. Haunted by the memories of her own childhood, Jo digs deep into the shadowy corners of a seemingly tight-knit community-to uncover a devastating secret...

Reviews
"I'll read anything by Susan McBride." -Charlaine Harris, #1 New York Times bestselling author "A taut, tense thriller from the powerful opening chapter to the shocking end. Authentic characters in a realistic plot that makes the crime all the more horrific. Settle in. You won't put it down." -Robert Dugoni, international bestselling author of My Sister's Grave "Walk a Crooked Line is that rare bird, a police procedural with a huge heart. Seamlessly weaving threads of plot and backstory into a rich, emotional tapestry, Susan McBride delivers a deeply compelling story of a teenaged girl whose big dreams bring her nothing but tragedy. I guarantee you'll enjoy your time with the two dogged detectives on the case, Jo Larsen and Hank Phelps. This is a book you'll gobble up in one sitting." -William Kent Krueger, New York Times bestselling and Edgar Award-winning author "Absorbing and intricately plotted. If you love police procedurals with a determined, compelling detective at the helm, you'll love Susan McBride's new series. Move over, Harry Bosch. Jo Larsen's on the job!" -Diane Capri, New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of the Hunt for Jack Reacher series Praise for Walk into Silence "McBride is the author of several chick-lit romances and mysteries (To Helen Back), but this dark stand-alone thriller is a departure. Recommend for Faye Kellerman fans." -Library Journal "[A] gripping [thriller]...A suspicious death, a murder, and submerged passions all figure in this tale of twisted love and redemption." -Publishers Weekly "McBride's intense, heartbreaking thriller grabs from the start and stays long after the end...Pulse-pounding twists and turns make this one memorable story." -RT Book Reviews

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
