Reviews
With the rediscovery of vocabulary in the 1990s came a new sense of how much applied-ness is appropriate to applied linguistics. Norbert Schmitt, notably, found the sweet spot between scientific rigour and practitioner relatable research, and in this excellent volume we see that his students are more than able to carry the project forward. Not that Norbert himself will be very far away from it for a long time to come! * Tom Cobb, University of Quebec at Montreal, Canada *
This volume presents a number of enlightening and original chapters which have been written as a tribute to Professor Norbert Schmitt. The breadth and high standard of his work is reflected in the central themes explored and the methodological quality of the studies presented in this book on lexical description, lexical acquisition and vocabulary teaching. * Birgit Henriksen, University of Copenhagen, Denmark *
The chapters in this great tribute to Norbert Schmitt, all written by leading vocabulary scholars, most of whom are his 'academic children', are dedicated to the vocabulary topics that are at the heart of Norbert's research. This is a welcome addition to the increasing number of books on vocabulary, and an enjoyable, engaging, and insightful resource that highlights Norbert Schmitt's profound impact on the field of vocabulary studies. * Elke Peters, KU Leuven, Belgium *

...it should be clear that this book is not all about Schmitt (to borrow a phrase). It is thoroughly inspired by him, though, in that all the papers can claim to explore new territory in one way or another, and further open up the research areas that he (among and in collaboration with others) identified.

-- Paul Pauwels, KU Leuven, Belgium * International Journal of Applied Linguistics, June 2022 *

This volume has great coherence [...] The book will be essential reading for postgraduate students and researchers interested in the area of second language acquisition, with a particular focus on vocabulary, as well as to those working in the broader fields of applied linguistics, TESOL and English studies.

-- Yufei Ren, Tsinghua University, China * LINGUIST List 33.1497 *

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
