Description

Performed as a one-woman show, Victim follows the power struggle between prison guard Tracey and criminal Siobhan as they come face-to-face with a notorious inmate. As they both muse on their lives outside the prison walls, we come to learn of their anxieties and their hardships as they confront the realities of prison life. Darkly comic and at times chilling, Victim is a thoughtful reflection on modern life and how easily it can be turned upside down.

This edition was published to coincide with Bruised Sky's production at Pleasance Courtyard, Edinburgh, August 2017.

Darkly comic and deeply disquieting, Victim is a thoughtful portrait of the lives of prisoner Siobhan and prison guard Tracey as they confront a notorious inmate.

Reviews
[A] monologue that scarily and effectively shows how life can be shattered by public vilification, however unearned * Stage *
Whatever the situation, it's never fully revealed - the focus isn't important in Martin Murphy's writing, merely the emotion and the maelstrom that surrounds the detail. The moment itself is fleeting; the effect everlasting...Murphy's show effortlessly proves that even the noblest of intentions can throw good people into the harsh realities of society * A Younger Theatre *
I thoroughly recommend this play. ***** * one4review.co.uk *
Engaging, provocative and insightful. 4.5 stars * The Fountain *
