Description

Conjuring the voice of Edward Hopper, this powerful collection of poetry investigates the mind of an iconic American painter. Lyrical and beautifully crafted, the poems convey both frightening and amusing messages as "Hopper" commentates on his own paintings-from the iconic Nighthawks to his depiction of his wife and himself taking a final bow in Two Comedians-as well as those of other artists. Shocking in their honesty, these poems also provide a window into the American Modernist period due to their biographical nature and evaluations of the visual arts.

About the Author
James Hoggard is an author, a translator, and a poet whose work has appeared in numerous publications, including Arts & Letters, Harvard Review, and Words Without Borders. He is the recipient of the Lon Tinkle Award and the former president of the Texas Institute of Letters. He lives in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Reviews
[These poems] seem ideal companions to the best biographies and analyses of the great artist." -Booklist

"James Hoggard's account of his long fascination with Hopper is so finely tuned that it's as if Hopper, ever the skeptic, resonates in response, and channels himself through Hoggard's poems to recreate the psychic matrices of his own creations." -William Pitt Root, Tucson's first poet laureate

"With spare, sure strokes, in a passionate and graceful series of poems written in Hopper's imagined voice, James Hoggard takes the risk of rendering the painter startlingly more human. Triangles of Light deepens our experience of Hopper's haunting work and the visionary spirit that created it." -Naomi Shihab Nye, Pushcart Prize-winning poet

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
