Description

This book describes, analyzes, and recommends traffic engineering (TE) and quality of service (QoS) optimization methods for integrated voice/data dynamic routing networks. These functions control a network's response to traffic demands and other stimuli, such as link failures or node failures. TE and QoS optimization is concerned with measurement, modeling, characterization, and control of network traffic, and the application of techniques to achieve specific performance objectives. The scope of the analysis and recommendations include dimensioning, call/flow and connection routing, QoS resource management, routing table management, dynamic transport routing, and operational requirements. Case studies are included which provide the reader with a concrete way into the technical details and highlight why and how to use the techniques described in the book.

No other book presents state-of-the-art traffic engineering and quality of service with as strong a focus on problems and solutions
Reviews
"I think there is a great need for a thorough book on TE. There is nothing much that satisfies that need at the moment...I think [this] book would be a useful contribution to the field...I do think that people in the target market would miss out if they did not read what Ash has to say on the topic." --Adrian Farrel, Movaz Networks "The proposed book has several strengths: first it proposes to consider both traffic engineering and QoS. Furthermore, a large proportion of the book seems to be devoted to simulations results which will be appealing for a large audience. I'm quite confident in his ability to produce a book of high quality and is indeed very-well known in the industry and standardization bodies." -- JP Vasseur, Cisco

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
