for SATB and organ The lion's share of this beautiful setting of words from the Lamentations of Jeremiah is given to the soprano and bass soloists, with the chorus singing the same short passage in the middle and at the end. Also in The Restoration Anthem Volume 1 (1660-1689).
About the Author
Michael Wise sang as a child in the choir of the Chapel Royal and served as a countertenor in St George's Chapel, Windsor. He was appointed Organist and Choirmaster at Salisbury Cathedral, then, in 1676, became a Gentleman of the Chapel Royal and, in the last year of his life, held the post of Master of the Children at St Paul's Cathedral. He is best known for his anthems and service settings but also wrote some catches and other secular songs.
