Description

- This book fills a huge gap in the market. All books of the therapist’s use of self are either out of date or incredibly scarce.
- Encourages therapists to use their own voice, their creativity, be flexible in integrating different therapeutic approaches from other models, use improvisation, and be playful so that the therapeutic process is fun, upbeat, and emotionally pleasing for the couples and families they work with.
- Besides offering many practical and creative ways to use oneself in the therapeutic process with couples and families, each chapter of this book will provide case examples to help illustrate the creative use of self and reflections on the therapeutic decision-making made and the resulting outcomes.
- Chapters begin by covering historical perspectives before moving to practical application, with a whole chapter dedicated to utilizing then use of self in a virtual context.
- Brings together ideas from outside therapy, such as literature, theater, film, art, and music.
- Audience is for both training students and professionals who are interested/didn’t receive this training during school.
- Matthew D. Selekman is a renowned family therapist and has written several books in the field.
- The chapter format will consist of didactic presentation, major therapeutic tools and strategies, case examples with reflections on both the timing of and the why of particular therapeutic actions taken in a given session being presented, the resulting outcomes, and key takeaways from each chapter
- Aims to create a DVD for therapists to use alongside the book.

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
