Description

Stress is an unavoidable part of life that we will all encounter at various times, be it due to a one-off event such as losing a job or the break-up of a relationship, or from facing long-term difficulties such as working in a stressful environment or caring for someone who is ill. How well we deal with stress will influence the extent to which it affects our lives.

Maureen Cooper explains why humans are designed to respond to stress in a certain way and why this can even be helpful at times. She goes on to show how to transform our habitual way of responding to stress by training ourselves in compassion and thereby improving our sense of control and wellbeing.

In this workbook, you can learn to manage stress better:
* Using tried and tested compassion techniques
* Via case studies and practical exercises

The Stress Workbook ... is like having a wise, compassionate helpful friend at the ready to take our hand and guide us through the seeming minefield of today's challenges. Using examples from everyday life, science and time-proven contemplative techniques, Maureen lovingly gives the reader the tools and the wherewithal to meet head on nearly anything that life throws our way' - Erric Solomon, co-author of Radical Happiness
'This important and very timely book ... is open, accessible, positive and immensely practical. All of its advice and exercises are suffused with the sincerity and wisdom of Maureen Cooper's experience and deep connection with her subject ... and it is through this connection that the book's gentle transformative power flows ... 'Sometimes I come across books I wish someone had given me much earlier in life, sensing it would have saved me a lot of trouble. This is one of them ... It is steeped in contemplative wisdom, modern psychology and neuroscience, but at the same time it is written in everyday English which makes the material accessible and easy to understand. Maureen Cooper writes in a way which shows deep understanding and empathy for the human condition ... It is a book you can go back to again and again, a book that leads you deeper and wider into your own life and the life of others ... The Stress Workbook is a trustworthy guide and a great resource, desperately needed in our culture. It should belong to every one who wants to understand their own stress better, and every one who works to relieve the stress of others. I can't think of anyone who won't find guidance and help in this book' - Tor Magne Handeland, certified mindfulness facilitator at UCLA Mindful Awareness Research Center
'Maureen Cooper takes us gently, but firmly, by the hand and shows us a clear path to transforming stress. With a dynamic interplay of ancient wisdom, applicable psychology and defined, practical steps, we are empowered to actually get some traction on ourselves and make sustainable change happen. What's wonderful about this approach is that it calls upon something that is very close to us - our very own heart - as the chief driver of this adventure' - David Rycroft, Mind with Heart

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
