Description

The Spectre of Babeuf is a long-awaited introduction to Babeuf written by Ian Birchall. Little known to today's radicals, Babeuf and his conspiracy of equals were in some ways the direct historical precursor of the revolutionary socialist movement. Ian Birchall, a prolific writer and authority on Babeuf, has produced a long-awaited introduction to him - his historical significance, his ideas and his practice in revolutionary France.

About the Author
Ian Birchall is a socialist historian and translator based in London. His books include Sartre Against Stalinism, A Rebel's Guide to Lenin, and Tony Cliff: A Marxist for His Time.

Reviews
"The story of the French Revolution has been the subject of countless books and articles, but the story of Gracchus Babeuf has rarely been told in the English language, so this reprint of Ian Birchall's 1997 book looking at the French revolutionary is enormously welcome...as Ian Birchall's excellent book shows us, we still have much to learn from the revolutionary life of Gracchus Babeuf." The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
