Description

The tale of the Trojan War brilliantly retold by the bestselling author of THE THORN BIRDS.

The tragic and terrible drama of the war between Greeks and Trojans, the long siege of Troy, and the impact of one woman's beauty on the fate of two nations, is played out again in this dazzling novel based on Homer's ILIAD.

Meet enchanting Helen, who we first encounter as a spoiled teenager and whose passion for the handsome, reckless Paris leads to the betrayal of her husband, King Menelaus, and the fall of the House of Troy. Powerful King Agamemnon with his terrifyingly ambitious wife Klytemnestra and his soothsaying mistress Kassandra. Odysseus, doomed to wander the Aegean for twenty long years; brave Achilles, who is haunted by the mad shade of his mother; the heroes Hektor and Ajax, and many more.

The tale of the Trojan War brilliantly retold by the bestselling author of THE THORN BIRDS.

About the Author
Colleen McCullough was a neuroscientist by training, but best known for her many works of fiction. She lived in Norfolk Island with her husband, Ric Robinson, until her death in 2015.

Reviews
McCullough has written a beginner's guide to Homer, cutting away every last trace of poetry to expose the narrative below... She has done us all a service, reminding those familiar with the classics of the wonder of one of the greatest stories ever told. Each character's personal history is a fascinating story in itself and she retells it as if she were telling a fairy story to a child. - Guardian.

There is much more to Colleen McCullough than The Thorn Birds... There are exciting moments, pacy moments, sexy and romantic moments. - Sunday Times.

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
