Description

***Published in honour of our late Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee, The Platinum Queen presents seven decades of world history through the words of Britain's longest-reigning monarch: over 256 exquisitely designed pages, packed with 130 photos and featuring every single major speech given over the course of Her late Majesty's time on the throne, a foreword by Jennie Bond and historical context to each decade.***

For the first time, all 70 of our late Queen's Christmas speeches are published together in full, along with six additional feature speeches made at significant points in her life.

Organised by decade, each chapter opens with a narrative essay on the key events that follow, providing an important contextual backdrop to the speeches. From times of national and global turmoil - including wars, terror attacks and health crises - to times of joy - such as the new millennium and Olympics - The Platinum Queen is a testament to the late Elizabeth's unwavering resolve, faith and dedication to her role.

About the Author

Jennie Bond is a broadcaster and journalist, who appears regularly on a wide range of television and radio programmes.

As the BBC's royal correspondent during fourteen of the most turbulent years the monarchy has endured, Jennie was at the heart of events that made headlines around the world: from the fairy-tale marriages to the adultery, the divorces and the deaths.

She is the author of Elizabeth: 50 Glorious Years, a commemoration of the Queen's reign, and Reporting Royalty, which tells in detail of her years keeping tabs on Britain's royal family.

She lives in Devon and thoroughly enjoys getting away from it all at her seaside home.

Derek Wyatt was MP for Sittingbourne and Sheppey, Kent, from 1997-2010. In what seems another life, he played rugby for Oxford University, Penguins International, the Barbarians and England. He founded the Women's Sports Foundation in 1984 and the Oxford Internet Institute in 1999. He has written books on film and rugby. He was chair of Royal Trinity Hospice from 2011-2017. He lives in Aldeburgh.

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
