Description

From the bestselling author of The Halo Effect comes a heart-racing novel of love, suspense, and the unbreakable bond between sisters. The people you love are taken from you. That's what Maddie DiMarco learned when she survived the plane crash that killed her parents. Fifteen years later, the scars remain. And the ones no can see are hardest to heal. Since the accident, Maddie's avoided the unpredictable and uncaring outside world, including any relationships-except for the one with her devoted older sister, Kat, who has always been there for her. When Maddie meets handsome pilot Jack Moroni, she finally begins to let down her guard. But just as quickly, her hope and trust are once again shattered when a plane crash forces her to revisit her traumatic past. Maddie turns to her sister for comfort and guidance, only to realize that Kat is missing. But Kat hasn't vanished without a trace. An investigative journalist, she's left behind a subtle trail of clues leading to the mysterious, myth-shrouded Yucatan coast of Mexico. To follow it, Maddie must confront her deepest fears-of flying, of intimacy, and of loss. She hopes that in doing so, she will find her sister. And if she's lucky, she may also find herself along the way.

Reviews
"The Orchid Sister is a look at how we endure loss and the worst that life throws at us. Do we wither or do we thrive?...The climactic scene of The Orchid Sister, drenched in symbolism, offers a satisfying close to the gripping story." -The Cape Cod Chronicle "Anne LeClaire has done it again with The Orchid Sister, a page-turner with a heart and a sprinkle of the mystical. Using a number of points of view, LeClaire is riveting as she plunges us into the world of two traumatized and deeply connected sisters, who struggle to find themselves and save each other. An exploration of the ties that bind and what happens when these ties are ripped apart. Unputdownable." -B. A. Shapiro, New York Times bestselling author of The Collector's Apprentice, The Muralist, and The Art Forger "Anne LeClaire is one of our most grace-filled writers, and she proves it again with The Orchid Sister. Lush and terrifying, magical and romantic, full of sisterly love and the power of women, this novel is The Handmaid's Tale for our time. The characters took hold of my heart and wouldn't let go." -Luanne Rice, New York Times bestselling author of The Beautiful Lost and The Secret Language of Sisters "The Orchid Sister has stunning surprises, evocative and eerie settings, and, at its heart, a powerful story of sisterly love. The high-stakes plot twists make it hard to put the book down, but the moving connection between Maddie and Kat is what will stay in your mind long after you've finished. Anne D. LeClaire's latest is a haunting, rewarding, and very unusual novel." -Stephen McCauley, author of My Ex-Life "By turns lyrical, hypnotic, and terrifying, The Orchid Sister is the kind of book that will take you to another world altogether, one of mystery and myth, darkness and deceit. I cannot recommend a more delicious way to spend your next twenty-four hours." -Emily Carpenter, bestselling author of Every Single Secret and Burying the Honeysuckle Girls

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
