The book includes notes, a pronunciation guide, index, maps, and photos. The new afterword focuses on the durability of Indian mythology and the abundant material increasingly available since the mid 80s. Bierhorst offers new information on previously obscure tribes on the mythological map.

About the Author
John Bierhorst is the author, editor or translator of more than 40 books on American Indian myths, tales and poetry, for adults and children. Six of his books have been ALA Notable Books.
