Starting with the special situation of the psychotherapeutic group, and using models of group dynamics derived from group psychotherapy but valid in other group situations, she shows how concepts and techniques can be transferred from this setting to others - counselling and problem solving, experiential, training and educational groups, work teams and institutions - and from small groups to median groups to large groups, and then to work with families and individuals. About the Author
Sheila Thompson qualified as a psychiatric social worker in 1955 and worked in child and adult psychiatry, community mental health, with offenders and in terminal care. She lived for some years in Kenya where she worked with refugees, and in New York where she studied hospice care and family therapy. She was a member of the Group-Analytic Society, and was most recently a tutor in group psychotherapy at Goldsmiths College.
