Description
Discover 8 enchanting little gnomes to knit, from popular knitting designer and gnome enthusiast, Sarah Schira.
In the depths of Grimblewood forest, tucked away under rustling pine and spruce trees, you'll find the Grimblewood gnomes: an eclectic and kindly bunch, ready to welcome anyone who rambles their way. From Gnorri, the skilled gardener tending to the Ancient Oak, to Gnoddy, who loves a cup of acorn and chanterelle tea, here is a charming circle of gnomes to knit and befriend...
Need-to-gnome:
- Discover all the materials and notions you need, as well as all the necessary know-how, including how to block, stuff and assemble your gnomes to create their distinct personalities.
- Each gnome has their own distinguishing features: choose from hats with earflaps, cablework, tassels or whimsical curled tips; knit outfits with colourwork details, stripes or cabling; create majestic beards with corkscrew curls or delicate loops, or even add some beard pockets!
- Suitable for confident knitters, the book contains all the necessary colourwork and cable charts, along with Sarah's 'Chart of Everything': the ultimate guide to calculating the yarn weights you need for each and every gnome.
- Every gnome is made in two weights of yarn - fingering (4-ply) and light worsted (DK/8-ply) - so you can knit your chosen new friend in a small or medium size. Or both!
- Advice is given on how to adapt your gnomes to make them child-friendly, if you wish to make friends for the little ones in your life.
#NeverNotGnoming
About the Author
"Once upon a time, there was a knitter who loved gnomes. She was always cold and couldn't understand why she was knitting and knitting (and knitting) gnomes rather than cardigans. All she knew was that as she stitched on the beard and the gnome popped into itself, complete with a personality and a life history, she would instantly wonder about doing it again."
Sarah Schira is a knitting designer who loves gnomes. A lot.
Her gnome patterns routinely hit the top of Ravelry's 'Hot Right Now' list, and she has an adoring gnome-loving following across multiple platforms. To her delight, thousands of knitters around the world have been #NeverNotGnoming with her.
When Sarah's not knitting gnomes, she's working on knitting accessories for everyday adventures, filming tutorials for her YouTube channel, and recording a podcast with her sister Katie which covers their favourite patterns, tea, knitting events and - you guessed it - gnomes.
Sarah lives in Manitoba, Canada.

Reviews
BOOKLIST (American Library Association)
Somewhat removed from their original gardening habitat, gnomes (in the knitted format) have invaded homes too. Small in size yet fierce in design, Schira's eight forest/woodland creatures, each with their own personality, can easily romp across bedrooms, living rooms, and playrooms. Starting off, Schira covers the usual in detail (equipment, the art of gnomery knitting) and offers one-cord tips, a lesson in picking up stitches from the hat brim, and advice on blocking (just a little sprinkle of water to help them relax) and assembly (the art of positioning with pint-size personalities). Schira's instructions are overall generous, with each of the eight gnomes receiving not only their own patterns but also a snapshot of who they are, from Gnoodles, the smallest, to Gnectar and Mr. Marbled. Creating small objects requires small needles, ergo, these are not projects for beginners. - Barbara Jacobs
