'The Gifting' is a complex novel, concerning, as it does, a dead man's arrival in Heaven - or is it Hell? (or maybe somewhere else. It's really a state rather than a place.) We are with him on his post-mortem journey as he relates the story of his mortal existence from retirement to his violent death.
