Description

Songs written for Disney productions since the 1930s to the present day have become a potent part of American popular culture. Since most Americans first discovered these songs in their youth, the songs have a special place in one's consciousness. Songwriters and original singers are identified, as well as the source of the song and other venues in which it has been used over the years. This volume also contains a glossary of song terms, a songwriter's directory, a guide to recordings and DVDs of Disney productions, and a listing of Academy Award nominees and winners.

About the Author
Thomas S. Hischak is the author of twenty-two books on popular music, theatre, and film, including such titles as Theatre as Human Action and Through the Screen Door: What Happened to the Broadway Musical When It Went to Hollywood. He is professor of theatre at the State University of New York College at Cortland. He is also the author of twenty-three published plays. Mark A. Robinson is a longtime Disney fan who has directed plays and musicals and taught theatre and film in various high schools in Nebraska and New York State. Reviews
From Walt Disney's first animated production 'Steamboat Willie' to today's Disney Studios productions, both live action and animated, original music has been a hallmark of every theatrical work, however large or small. The collaborative work of Thomas S. Hischak and Mark A. Robinson, The Disney Song Encyclopedia is a 400 page encyclopedic compendium showcasing succinct descriptions of more than 900 Disney film associated songs-many of which made significant popular cultural impacts in their day. Enhanced with an introduction offering a brief history of Disney music; as well as appendices comprised of a list of alternate song titles; a songwriters directory; a guide to recordings, videos and DVDs; Academy Awards for Disney songs and scores; a glossary of song terms; a bibliography, and a comprehensive index, The Disney Song Encyclopedia is a unique and highly recommended addition to personal, professional, and academic library music history and Disney studies reference collections. * Midwest Book Review *

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
