He has watched the competition live from every angle: Arsenal v Aston Villa in the final (attendance: 89,283) to Amesbury Town v Eversley and California in the extra preliminary round (attendance: 56). A former senior editor at The Times, his previous books include Children of the Revolution: Aston Villa in the 1970s and The Times on the Ashes.
