Description

The victim of a miscarriage of justice, the Count of Monte Cristo is fired by a desire for retribution and empowered by a stroke of providence. In his campaign of vengeance, he becomes an anonymous agent of fate. The sensational narrative of intrigue, betrayal, escape, and triumphant revenge moves at a cracking pace. Alexandre Dumas' novel presents a powerful conflict between good and evil embodied in an epic saga of rich diversity that is complicated by the hero's ultimate discomfort with the hubristic implication of his own actions.

Manga Classics proudly introduces our faithful adaptation of The Count of Monte Cristo. A great deal of research was required by our adaptation team to ensure a faithful reading of the story. This effort also included visiting each site used by Dumas in his tale. All Manga Classic titles are produced with lesson plans, teaching guides and leveling for use in the classroom. With each and every Manga Classic, it is our passion and hope that we help the reader connect with the story in a meaningful way. We also feel this is an exciting way to introduce these classic stories to a new reader who may then go back to read the original texts. We hope you enjoy our work.

About the Author
Alexandre Dumas was a 19th century French author whose works have been translated into nearly 100 languages, and he is one of the most widely read French authors. Many of his historical novels of high adventure were originally published as serials, including The Count of Monte Cristo, The Three Musketeers, Twenty Years After, and The Vicomte de Bragelonne: Ten Years Later. Crystal S. Chan is an award-winning author and television screen play writer. She holds a degree in language and literature. Crystal is a huge fan of authors such as Jane Austen and she is equally passionate about Sailor Moon. Her passion for classic literature combined with her love of the comics medium allows her to strike a solid balance between preserving the depth of the original content while adapting the language for a younger generation. Nokman Poon says her greatest passion for drawing comics comes from the globally popular video game Street Fighter. She says she was inspired to become an artist through the art of her beloved fighting game. When she wasn't playing the game, she would draw her favorite characters in fight scenes in order to quench her thirst of the exciting gameplay. Her years of training in comic of the fighting game genre gives her drawing a touch of firmness and crisp that rivals a male artist. Nokman enjoys sampling cuisine from all over the world. She admits that recently she has become addicted to playing mobile games during her leisure time.

Reviews
"Falsely imprisoned on his wedding day by the man who wants his beloved, Edmond Dantes, a merchant sailor, manages to escape. He becomes the mysterious count and plots revenge on the three men responsible for his misery. Verdict: In this tale set during the reign of Napoleon Bonaparte, the culture provides a great backdrop for adventures and discoveries influenced by fate, and the epic saga moves quickly in a struggle between good and evil."

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
