Description

A delightful midi-edition of the bestselling picture book The Christmas Eve Tree, including a stunning pop-up - coming just in time for Christmas!

A magical midi-edition of Delia Huddy and Emily Sutton's poignant, exquisitely illustrated Christmas story, with a beautiful pop-up cityscape. When the ugly little fir tree is taken to the city, no one wants to buy him; they prefer the big tall trees. But a homeless boy asks the shopkeeper if he can take the tree, and down by the river in a cardboard box, decorated with a few candles, the tree finds itself at the centre of a magical Christmas Eve it will never forget. With a stunning pop-up of a snowy city skyline, this is a Christmas tale with a classic feel but a modern theme at its heart.

About the Author

Delia Huddy grew up surrounded by books. After taking a degree in English at King's College London, she began to work in publishing, first at Constable & Co, then Hamish Hamilton, and then with close friend Julia MacRae at Julia MacRae Books. Latterly she became Editorial Director at Random House Children's Books. Alongside her distinguished career in publishing, Delia wrote for children and young people - novels, picture books and young fiction - over 30 titles in all. At the end of her life, in 2005, Delia was working on the text for The Christmas Eve Tree.

Emily Sutton graduated from Edinburgh College of Art with a degree in illustration. As well as illustrating picture books, she paints, sculpts and designs prints. Emily's recent titles include the picture book The Tale of the Castle Mice, written by Paddington author Michael Bond. Her previous work for Walker includes Tiny: The Invisible World of Microbes and Lots: The Diversity of Life on Earth - and she will be the illustrator of A First Book of the Sea (publishing 2018), a companion volume to Nicola Davies and Mark Hearld's bestseller, A First Book of Nature. Emily lives in York - visit her at her website: emillustrates.com.

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
