Description

Autobiography of Llanelli prop, Welsh Rugby Union Board and International Rugby Board member Anthony Buchanan. Although he only won a handful of International caps for Wales, Anthony Buchanan's story is unusual in that it spans both the playing and administrative sides of the game as well as bridging Welsh rugby's momentous shift from the amateur days to professionalism. A trusted confidant of Gareth Jenkins, he is ideally placed to comment on Llanelli RFC's transition from club to region, not to mention the birth of European rugby. He is a natural raconteur and as well as telling his own story, he delivers a rare and informed insight into one of Wales's most famous rugby clubs and regions and the highest echelons of the game. In his capacity as former Chairman of the International Referees Selection Panel, he discusses his frank opinions of the role of Television Match Officials and their impact on the game for players and spectators alike, the career of Nigel Owens and the infamous red card issued by Alain Rolland to Sam Warburton in the 2011 Rugby World Cup semi-final. He also provides a behind-the-scenes look at the rugby world that is always laced with humor and often downright hilarious.

About the Author
Anthony Buchanan played for Llanelli RFC for ten seasons and was selected for Wales in the inaugural Rugby World Cup, his retirement from playing coinciding with the game going professional. Buchanan stayed with his beloved Llanelli, becoming the first paid team manager in the Welsh game. He was later voted on to the WRU Board and chosen as Wales' representative on the International Rugby Board, as well as becoming chairman of the International Referees Selection Panel. In that capacity, he was heavily involved in the last two Rugby World Cups, before deciding to step down following Japan 2019. Geraint Thomas is an experienced author who has published numerous non-fiction titles about Rugby Union and other subjects, and specialises in biographies. His book 'A Raid Over Berlin' (Parthian, 2018) topped the Amazon bestsellers list and appeared on the Sunday Times Bestsellers List. 'Terry Davies: Wales's First Superstar Fullback' (Y Lolfa, 2016) reached the shortlist for the 2017 Cross Sports Book of the Year and 'Glenn Webbe: The Gloves Are Off', co-authored with Webbe, was shortlisted in the 2020 Sports Book of the Year Awards. Thomas was also shortlisted for 2016 News Reporter of the Year in the Media Wales Awards.

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
