Description

"it is for anyone who wants their comics to be more than tights and capes. Who want a bit of gonzo in their lives. Who find that excess in small doses just doesn't satisfy them." -Ain't It Cool News

"With The Auteur Spears and Callahan have cooked up an innovative concept with stunning execution. The storytelling is flawless, fun, concise and fat free and I can't wait to see the story unfold. Two craftsmen at the top of their game. Do the right thing and buy this comics." - Rick Remender (BLACK SCIENCE, FEAR AGENT)

Fresh off the biggest bomb in Hollywood history, producer Nathan T. Rex enters a downward spiral of drugs and depravity in a quest to resurrect his career and save his soul. Over budget and behind schedule on PRESIDENTS DAY, he is backed into a corner by bad publicity, a crap project, and studio politics. But enlisting serial-killer-turned-murder-consultant Darwin, his trusty assistant Igor, narcotics from Doctor Love, and the lovely actress Coconut, T. Rex will stop at nothing in his quest for cinematic fame and glory. God help us all.

Reviews
  • The Auteur is self-reflexive, turning a mirror not only on the creative process, but the public consumption of that end result. It knows full-well that most people will view it very much like a movie called Death Fist: with derision, passing judgement and indefinable distaste. And that's just fine by me. Score: 5/5 - Comic Bastards

  • "The Auteur" is not for everyone, but then, alternative offerings never are. Anyone with a disdain for the mainstream, or even those just looking for something totally different, will find satisfaction here. - CBR

  • It's an incredibly fun comic and I just want more. I have no idea how the story will continue and grows more grotesque, but I'll be eagerly awaiting each installment. Overall Score 10/10. - Adventures in Poor Taste

  • The Auteur from Rick Spears, James Callahan, and Luigi Anderson is the type of comic the industries needs more of. Nathan states " We must be bold, be brave, and be amazing" and that is exactly what TheAuteur is. The Auteur showcases a comic that can be funny, over the top, violent, but also incredible well made. The art is striking, the writing is slick and colors are psychedelic. 9/10. - Rhymes with Geek

  • Auteur #1: Oni Press has been on a roll lately, putting out some of the best new titles of the past few months, including Bunker and Letter 44. Auteur appears to the next addition to this list. - 13th Dimension

  • With hallucinations and delusions and grandeur, creatives Rick Spears, James Callahan and Luigi Anderson reveal themselves to be every bit as in control as Rex isn't with their unforgiving assault on Hollywood. They themselves are chasing something very raw. There's something Rex's eye, gorily vaulting out of its socket on the issue's cover, is dying to tell you: The Auteur has vision. 8/10- Newsarama

  • The Auteur offers the imagination that many titles do not have on offer. Unlike the mainstream titles that survive on name alone, this comic is trying to create its own name and it looks like Rick Spears has had his very own epiphany in the form of the Auteur #1. - Fortress of Solitude

  • We endlessly praised "Shaolin Cowboy" earlier this year for its artistically studious and indulgent approach to staging a hyper violent fight sequence with great detail, humor, and vitality. "The Auteur" carries that same spirit with it, though much more is thrown at the wall. While "Shaolin Cowboy" was delivering basically one thing, in a variety of ways, "The Auteur" is grabbing stuff from every corner of its creators' unwieldily minds to entertain you. "The Auteur" is perfect for fans of entirely original, entirely uninhibited, independently minded comics that play by their own rules and nobody else's. Final Verdict: 9.5 - Buy - Multiversity Comics

  • In Nathan "T-Rex" Rex, the star of the story, I definitely see a reflection of my own desire to create something mind-blowingly unique, as well as my own concerns about whether or not I'll ever actually be able to do so. In Zaul Pear, T-Rex's employer, I detect my own jaded ennui, while Zed, Zaul's son who is the one actually running the business, clearly represents my own temptations to throw in the towel on creative integrity and do something that'll make me lots of money. I think that the most valuable thing that this book has to offer the reader is the insight into our own fears and confidences that it provides. Even if the story never really goes anywhere, I think that this series will be worth following. 7.8/10- Culture Mass

  • There's only a handful of comics I even bother to read these days. Out of them all, there were only two where I felt excited to find out what happens next. The Auteur makes three.- Bleeding Cool

  • in this single issue there was more to dig through than there is in most first issues and I look forward to pouring through low-brow drug jokes and intricate sight gags for issues to come. - This is Infamous

  • "The Auteur is the anti-Mark Millar, because although this new title is about moviemaking, it's not about making a movie. It's about making an incredible comic."- Syvology

  • "There really aren't a lot of madcap series out right now that are doing whatThe Auteur is pulling off. 4/5 Stars"- All Comic

  • "...there is something about it that I found totally fascinating and I want to see where the story goes. I've read comics about superheroes, and spies, and monsters, but I don't think I've ever read one about a character like this. Score 4/5. " - Geeks of Doom

  • "it is for anyone who wants their comics to be more than tights and capes. Who want a bit of gonzo in their lives. Who find that excess in small doses just doesn't satisfy them." -Ain't It Cool News

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
