Description

What graphic design is, what designers need to know, and who becomes a designer have all evolved as the computer went from being a tool to also becoming our primary medium for communication. How jobs are advertised and how prospective candidates communicate with prospective employers have changed as well, as has the culture and context for many workplaces, requiring new approaches for how to find your first (and last) position. Through clear prose, a broad survey of contexts where designers find themselves in the present day, and interviews with designers, The AIGA Guide to Careers in Graphic and Communication Design is an invaluable resource for finding your place in this quickly changing and growing field. The book includes interviews with over 40 designers at all levels working in-house and out-of-house in studios, consultancies, or alone, including: Nicholas Blechman, The New Yorker; Rob Giampietro, Google; Njoki Gitahi, IDEO; Hilary Greenbaum, Whitney Museum; Holly Gressley, Vox Media; Cemre Gungoer, Facebook; Natasha Jen, Pentagram; Renda Morton, The New York Times; and Alisa Wolfson, Leo Burnett Worldwide.

A contemporary guide to finding your place and navigating your future in the expanding field of graphic and communication design.

Reviews
The book addresses topics that we currently discuss, but have never had a book to back up the discussion. I feel the book is strong and would be useful to students who are embarking on a career in graphic design. I would absolutely use this book with my senior portfolio class. -- Jerrold L. Graves, Pasadena City College, USA
The tone of the author is very approachable, clear, and concise. My students really appreciate and benefit most when reading advice that sounds as if it speaks directly to them and this author does that well. -- Brittany Schade, Western Washington University, USA
I really like how the author expresses her thoughts and experiences. It feels reflective of the industry and how we communicate with one another rather than some of the books that either come across as too academic or alternatively, too simple and basic. The approach fits very well with my courses. -- Angela Dow, Ferris State University, USA
Well written, illustrated and easy to follow. * Timothy Bones, North Kent College, UK *

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
