About the Author
The Author Carlo Lorenzini, better known as Carlo Collodi, was born in Florence in 1826. He published The Adventures of Pinocchio in weekly episodes in a children's magazine in 1881-82 and as a novel in 1883. The boy-puppet Pinocchio is one of the most popular figures in children's literature worldwide. The Adventures of Pinocchio has been translated in 260 languages, making it the third most translated book in the world, after The Bible and The Little Prince. Our version is a newly translated reduction of Collodi's original text. The Illustrator Philip Giordano was born in 1980 in Savona, Italy. After studying art in Milan and Turin, he began working as an illustrator for children's books and magazines, cartoons, and toy design. He spent six years in Tokyo, partly because of his Asian origins, but also because he has always loved the Japanese culture. Giordano's picture books have been translated into many languages. He has won multiple awards, including the International Award for Illustration at the Bologna Book Fair in 2010, the 2017 Andersen Prize for the best book for 0-6 year-olds, and Taiwan's best young readers' book of the year in 2021.
