Reviews
The book is a pleasure to read, and one always has the feeling that B. writes both as a meticulous academic and as a true enthusiast of ancient Greece. The major strength of the book lies in its multidisciplinary approach: its promenade in Ajax's company is investigated in the true spirit of lebendiges Ganzes philology. Therefore, it will constitute the new reference work on the hero, and thanks to the many and various topics addressed it will interest scholars of ancient history, religion, art and literature. * GIACOMO SCAVELLO, The Classical Review *
This book will reward patient readers with important new insights into the nature of Athenian law and democracy. * Matthew Pincus, University of Virginia, Religious Studies Review *
...the book is a significant achievement. * Bryn Mawr Classical Review *
