Description

This book is ideal for primary teachers with little or no experience of teaching music. It will also offer fresh ideas and inspiration to the most experienced music specialists. Teaching Foundation Music is the first of Ann Bryant's music work schemes for primary teachers.

The book includes lots of songs and rhymes with flexible lesson plans built around them as well as downloadable online audio of performance and accompaniment tracks to accommodate teachers with limited keyboard skills. This scheme offers guidance for those with no formal musical training and will build the confidence of all primary level teachers. The lesson plans are completely flexible and can accommodate mixed age and mixed ability groups, making them perfect for schools with more than one intake. Any teacher will benefit from Ann's broad experience and imaginative ideas and Children will love getting involved and singing the wide range of original songs and rhymes that have been incorporated into this structured and accessible set of lesson plans.

Following Ann Bryant's training at the Royal College of music and her postgraduate course in Dalcroze Eurythmics, she has taught music movement and Drama to young people both here in the U.K and in Europe. For the last fifteen years Ann has specialised in Foundation and Key Stage 1, developing a unique and dynamic style of teaching. Author of the award-winning 'Teaching Key Stage 1 Music' (best New Music Product - Music Industry Associations Awards 2002), she has also established a highly successful career as a children's author.

As a non-musician I find this book really easy to follow as each session is adaptable to meet the needs of the differing age groups. It is not difficult, either, to work the book around themes or current events. This is the first time I have felt confident teaching music in nursery. In my opinion this book will be invaluable to both musical and non-musical staff who work with pre-school/nursery children. It is certainly the best resource I have used for a long time - or even ever!

Sarah Warbner, Pre-school Nursery Manager, Great Pagehurst Pre-school Nursery

Although I have been a reception teacher for over eleven years, I have always felt rather inadequate in my teaching of music. I was therefore delighted when asked to trial Ann Bryant's scheme of work for the foundation stage. Having worked with Ann some years previously, I had witnesses at first hand the results she has obtained but she is a music specialist, and I am most definitely not. I am pleases to day that my fears were quickly laid to rest and it has been very rewarding for me to see the children participating with such enthusiasm. I am sure that anyone working with children in the Foundation Stage, whatever their musical backgrounds, will find that this scheme of work will enrich their teaching.

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
