Description

TATTOOS HORNETS FIRE for the first time presents a pictorial dimension to the Sweden that has been introduced to so many readers of Stieg Larsson's luminous novels, and one that they have longed to know better. Stirring photography by internationally renowned photographers of the locations from these three books offer witness not only to locations that until this publication have rested in readers' minds alone, but with additional photography, provide an ambience of the entirety of this beautiful, intriguing and widely unexplored country not recently documented in book format.

Here is a wonderful cultural excursion for the armchair traveler; a memento for the coffee table of the reader who has visited Sweden; and a first-time visual introduction for the soon-to-be traveler to Sweden to the places made so memorable and mesmerizing by Stieg Larsson.

Created with the important collaboration and support of VisitSweden, the Swedish tourist board, compelling images created exclusively for this book by two photographers widely acknowledged as the best in their field along with definitive explanations of the sites and their histories by one of Sweden's foremost travel guides combine to create an important document in addition to a compelling read and visual tour de force.

About the Author
Christopher Makos is a world-renowned photographer known for his work in portraiture, whose work has been exhibited at galleries and museums worldwide, appeared in 15-authored books, and in magazines internationally. He apprenticed with photographer Man Ray in Paris and collaborated with Andy Warhol, whom he showed how to use his first camera. He introduced Warhol to the work of both Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring. Makos' work has been in the permanent collections of more than 100 museums and major private collections, including those of Malcolm Forbes, Pedro Almodovar, and Gianni Versace. Just a few of his previous books include Exhibitionism, a collaboration on studies of the male nude with Calvin Klein, Equipose, unique portraiture of horses published by Glitterati in 2005, and the soon-to-be-released Warhol In Context, which visually chronicles Makos' unique access to this major artist during the 70s, 80s, and 90s. Paul Solberg was born in St. Paul, Minnesota and studied anthropology and photography in Cape Town, South Africa and Bophuthatswana. BLOOM, Paul's first published book, explores Flower as Object. Makos calls Solberg 'the most modern photographer in America.' Solberg's photographs have been published in Publisher's Weekly, Elle, Lucky, and Ocean Drive, along with European publications, Vanidad and Alter Ego. Paul's work has been shown at Ralph Pucci in New York, The Young Gallery in Brussels, Flo Peter's Gallery in Hamburg, Baudoin Lebon in Paris, ARCO in Madrid and Paris Photo. Solberg currently resides in New York City.

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
