Description

Taking a Detailed Eating Disorder History educates health care clinicians of all backgrounds on how to best acquire a detailed eating disorder history and expands the clinical standard and effectiveness of history taking for a more thorough treatment of eating disorders. It describes the vast permutations and possible combinations of over 100 eating disorder behaviors as well as their connections to emotional and social triggers. Readers will also gain a stronger understanding of complicating factors related to eating disorders, such as diabetes, pregnancy, inflammatory bowel disease, and metabolic disorders, as well as drug and alcohol use, difficult relationships, and emotional strife. This informative new resource will be essential for any care provider of those with eating disorders.

About the Author

James R. Kirkpatrick, MD, has managed the care of adolescents and adults with eating disorders in private practice, community-based eating disorder programs, and hospitals for over 30 years. He is a clinical assistant professor at the University of British Columbia, a member of the Academy for Eating Disorders, and a member of the World Health Organization's Global Clinical Practice Network.

Reviews

"Dr. Kirkpatrick adeptly draws upon his decades of experience to sift nuanced and unexpected aspects of eating disorder presentations from what often are cacophonous clinical interactions. The atheoretical, direct suggestions for querying are a virtually endless cache for new and seasoned clinicians alike. This text will open eyes to aspects of assessment that may be otherwise overlooked and sit as a frequently accessed reference on the prudent clinician's shelf."

Kyle De Young, PhD, Assistant Professor of Psychology, University of Wyoming, licensed psychologist

"This book is amazing. Dr. James Kirkpatrick has written a seminal text on eating disorders that explores both the internal and external influences that propagate and maintain this complex illness. Dr. Kirkpatrick's insightful exploration and step-by-step approach to a patient's history is a practical blueprint that can only promote the therapeutic alliance between patient and practitioner and allow for a treatment approach that is multidimensional, sensitive and evidence-based."

Jayna Ellsworth, MSW, licensed independent clinical social worker, lecturer at Salem State University and Simmons School of Social Work, clinician, Addiction Rehabilitation Program at Emerson Hospital, Massachusetts

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
