Description

"I can give Kingsley piggyback rides, even though he's older than me! I can run SUPER fast!"

Discover Strong Like Me, a picture-book story about finding what makes YOU strong.

Kamara loves being super strong - it makes her feel fizzy and zappy! But her classmates and their negative words lead her to question how strong she really is. With Sport's Day and the Big Race looming, does Kamara have what it takes to reach the finish line?

And can she discover what being STRONG means to her?

"A BEAUTIFUL celebration of STRENGTH in all its forms." - Dapo Adeola, author of Hey You! An Empowering Celebration of Growing Up Black

Strong Like Me is a timely picture-book debut by writer, social commentator and podcast host, Kelechi Okafor. This inspirational story sets out to help children discover their power, champion themselves, and be unapologetically secure in who they are.

Packed full of heart, the story opens important conversations around ability, intersectionality, race and identity.

About the Author
Kelechi Okafor is a Nigerian-born Londoner - a writer, presenter, social commentator and tour de force in challenging how we think about race, oppression and femininity. Although Kelechi wears many hats, the head those hats are stylishly perched on is filled with incisive observations about society, culture and specifically Black womanhood. Michaela Dias-Hayes is the illustrator of Kate Greenaway Medal-nominated Sunflower Sisters, (Owlet Press, July 2021), for which she took inspiration from her part-Jamaican heritage and her former long term partner's Indian family. Michaela's first book as both author and illustrator, Colour and Me takes inspiration from conversations with her son. She loves to create accurately portrayed black and brown characters, inspired by her own family and experiences, and places them within stories that explore and celebrate black heritage in an accessible way for young readers.

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
