Reviews
An ultrasilly, swashbuckling addition to the Read and Bloom line . . . The plentiful full-color illustrations play up the story's olfactory theme, which should delight those beginning readers whose sense of humor tends toward the gross-out. * Publishers Weekly *
Spike is an amiable and odoriferous crewmate for novice readers. * BCCB *
With funny characters and an engaging yet simple plotline, this will fly off the shelves. * School Library Journal *
There's a jaunty joie de vivre to Spike's love of all that reeks. A true transitional book, the text is perfect for children working their way up to full chapter books. Paul Meisel's full-color illustrations help liven up son Peter Meisel's short chapters, and the story will keep readers guessing. * Kirkus Reviews *
Paul Meisel's full-color illustrations are equally charming and will easily attract readers to this engaging early chapter book. Father and son, Peter and Paul Meisel, have created what promises to become a popular new series. * Booklist *
Stinky Spike's adventures will delight and engage children. The author's use of humor and Stinky Spike's love for the foulest smells make this book a real hit! This would definitely be a favorite for my 6 year old! -- Kendra Hall-Kenyon, Associate Professor of Early Childhood Education, Brigham Young University
Read & Bloom will be wildly popular. And I am very happy to see some new friendship books come along with the end of the Elephant and Piggie books. -- Teri Lesesne, Professor of Library Science at Sam Houston State University
Funny and appealing, the Read & Bloom books will charm readers. -- Linda M. Pavonetti, Ed.D., professor of Reading and Language Arts at Oakland University
