This monograph publication draws from the results of new research on the first two decades of his oeuvre, while also outlining later developments, giving the international audience a glimpse into the magnitude of the artist's unique conceptual synthesis. The artist's outstanding work with the category of time itself as well as his message for the future is getting more and more international recognition posthumously.
About the Author
Dr Lucia Gregorova Stach is chief curator of the Collection of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Slovak National Gallery in Bratislava. Her main focus is on Central and Eastern European art of the second half of the 20th century. In 2015, together with Joanna Kordjak, she prepared the last solo exhibition of Stano Filko's artworks during the artist's lifetime at Zacheta, the National Art Gallery in Warsaw. She is a regularly published author in academic journals and participates in art historical events, symposia and conferences in Slovakia and abroad. Aurel Hrabusicky is a curator of the Collection of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Slovak National Gallery. He specialises in visual art in Slovakia in the 20th and 21st centuries, with a particular focus on conceptual and alternative art in Slovakia in the 1960s and 1980s, and on photography and photographic documentaries of recent decades. He curated the first exhibition of Stano Filko's work at the Slovak National Gallery (1993) and is the author of the first major overview of Filko's work, The Avant-gardist by Trade. A reflection on the Work of Stano Filko (1994). Both authors presented the exhibition Stano Filko. Poetry on Space - Cosmos at the Slovak National Gallery in 2016, and compiled the first comprehensive monograph on Stano Filko in 2018.
