Description

Spid is horrified to find litter has been thrown into his garden. But he soon realises that littering and rubbish aren't just a problem for him - they're a problem for the whole planet. So Spid decides to do something about it, but he needs an idea. A really good idea. And he needs one now ... This story includes 2 songs; 'Plan-it Earth' and 'Bag It, Bin It'. QR codes take readers to musical versions of the songs. Includes 'litter cycle' wallchart further helping children understand the effects of litter and pollution on the planet and that they can do something about it too. Spid is a lowly spider, who wants to better himself, write songs, and marry his girlfriend Bid, though he is prone to hilarious mishaps mostly of his own making. He is hard-working, cool, and a role model for young children. As well as encouraging children to read and love books, Spid's adventures also teach valuable life lessons, including determination and what psychologists call a 'growth mindset' (desire to better oneself and succeed), the importance of friendship, and sustainability. With very creative prose, Spid's adventures are fun for parents, and teachers to read to, and with, their children. They present lots of opportunities to invest dramatic licence thus helping adults and children interact and engage. The humour works at multiple levels from silly and slapstick to more sophisticated wordplay and concepts. Thus, children will discover more and enjoy reading the stories time and time again.

The books include a free wall chart/poster explaining the 'litter cycle' and providing discussion topics for teachers and parent. They will be promoted to all UK primary schools, and globally via two music singles and a promotion campaign to help prevent or mitigate against littering.

About the Author
John Eaton lives and works in Taunton, Somerset. UK. He is a poet and song writer, also a nurse and care home manager. John started writing in the middle of the lock-down as a means of staying sane and keeping in touch, and building relationships with his granddaughter, Evaleigh. He has always had an affinity with the English language, and space and time, provided the opportunity to create. He is passionate about encouraging literacy, and love of the English language. Featuring lots of creative prose, his Spid the Spider adventures help parents to engage their children, and the messages inspire a determination to succeed. Some of the themes in Spid's books also mirror John's own life. When he left school, he did not know, what if anything, he should be good at. Being one of eight children and growing up on a council estate he did not aspire to higher purpose. Though working in a psychiatric hospital, and then qualifying as a Mental Health Nurse (RMN) and then as a Registered General Nurse (RGN) led him overseas. Then to establish a successful healthcare training business and subsequently a growing care home in Somerset. His work is inspired by the people, punishment, pathos, and humorous proclamations he encounters in his day job. Thus far John has also written some 100 songs, mostly with Pete Dymond (who has also written for Sir Paul McCartney, David Essex and Mickie Most). His Spid the Spider books all feature at least 2 songs with QR codes taking readers to musical versions of the songs.

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
