The book starts with background information on the fundamentals with recent advances of spectrum sharing techniques. Further, it explores the advanced frame structures with spectrum accessing approaches, and the role of spectrum prediction and spectrum monitoring techniques for interference-free spectrum sharing. Effective spectrum mobility is also analyzed. Moreover, due to the popularity of distributed architectures of communication systems in various applications, the energy and spectral efficient frameworks are presented by employing the self-scheduled medium access control (SMC-MAC) protocol in the cognitive radio networks (CRNs). The frameworks of cognitive radio nonorthogonal multiple access (CR-NOMA) for further enhancement in the spectral efficiency as compared to that of cognitive radio only are also explored. In addition, the interference management schemes for the spectrum sharing are illustrated. Finally, the concept of cognitive radio is exploited for a potential application that is internet-of-vehicles.
