The contributors argue that it is part of theology's "calling" to engage with culture, particularly the arts, and that it is not in fact "true" theology unless it does so. Jeremy Begbie is Associate Principal of Ridley Hall, Cambridge and Reader in Theology at the University of St Andrews. A professionally trained musician, he has performed extensively as a pianist, oboist and conductor. He is the author of "Voicing the Praise" (T & T Clark) and "Theology, Music and Time" (C.U.P)
