Suitable for non-music readers and non-specialists this is a collection of 37 all-time favourite songs for young children with new words. It is intended as a means of encouraging children to listen to sounds, discriminate between them, use them in performance and improve their co-ordination through actions and movement. Designed for National Curriculum Key Stage 1 it provides an opportunity for children to respond imaginatively to the many opportunities for making up new verses. The book was prepared by a primary music specialist who was the author of Christmas Tinder Box.
Reviews
For anyone who hasn't seen this book, I'd say it's a must for all EY teachers. Simple songs to help with routines which also support auditory discrimination. Easy to adapt once you get the idea. I still use these songs today when I'm working with children. ~ Ruth Swailes, School Improvement Advisor and Early Years consultant
