Description

'...Like the albatross, we need a safe place we can be. But somewhere we're together, my Mama and my me...'

High up in a Glasgow tower block, ten-year-old Star and her mother await the outcome of their claim for asylum. As Mama's mind fragments under the pressure of their unknown future, Star constructs a poetic and fantastical world of her own. Some Other Mother is a story of loss and survival, which explores the traumatising impact of the asylum system, regardless of the outcome.

A story of loss and survival that explores the traumatizing impact of the asylum system.

Some Other Mother stands out... in Taudevin's interest in the psychological wounds inflicted by the immigration system * Guardian *
No tub-thumping piece of agit-prop. Rather, the piece could be said to embody that evergreen feminist rallying cry, "the personal is political" * The Times *

Great experience and I have zero concerns. They communicated through the shipping process and if there was any hiccups in it, they let me know. Books arrived in perfect condition as well as being fairly priced. 10/10 recommend. I will definitely shop here again!

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
