Description
Decades of research proposes that wide, sound, rich, positive, warm, and secure relationships are particularly protective for children and young people at risk in the community and in out of home care.
This volume offers an in-depth analysis of social support among young people in residential care and after leaving care, and its role in their mental health. Drawing on research from Australia, Brazil, Canada, Ghana, India, Ireland, Israel, Norway, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States, the contributions from this collection are focused on the residential care setting and will be useful for other professionals and out-of-home settings serving children in need, such as foster care families and educational residential care settings.
Academics and professionals working in social work, education, child protection and child psychology will find this book valuable.
