Description

A cutting-edge and original analysis of contemporary social movements in a globalized world, providing a clear and comprehensive grounding in social movement and globalization theory and drawing on a range of case studies and examples from around the world, from Anonymous and 15-M/Indignados to the Zapatistas.

The best book on the new movements for radical social change in the 21st century that I have read!' - John Foran, Professor of Sociology, University of California, Santa Barbara, USA 'An engaging and accessible account of key developments in current social movements' struggles against injustice, neoliberal globalization and political repression, drawn from a diverse series of sites, including Europe, North Africa, the Middle East and North America. It is a fine contribution to literature in the field.' - Kathie Muir, Senior Lecturer, School of Social Sciences, University of Adelaide, Australia 'An important, original and much-needed analysis of contemporary social movements. Drawing on a wealth of research and written in an engaging style, it offers an excellent resource for scholars and lecturers alike.' - Celia Valiente, Associate Professor in Sociology and Politics, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid 'An excellent text on the development, characteristics and changes within social movements at a time of globalization. Lively, readable and well-crafted, it offers concise definitions of key terms, vivid and well-analysed cases and informs new developments in the study of social movements.' - Lei Xie, Lecturer in Politics, University of Exeter, UK 'Casts its net wide in examining how contemporary social movements are both shaped by and in turn themselves shape what we call globalization. It poses clearly the question of the challenges posed but also opportunities opened up for social movements under the present global order... A very readable survey of the global justice movement.' - Ronaldo Munck, Dublin City University 'Unique in both its breadth and its temporal focus... The book will surely be inavaluable to undergraduate and postgraduate students seeking to navigate the fast-moving waters of social movement politics' - Catherine Eschle, University of Strathclyde

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
