Description

In these lectures Koenig explores the human being and social life, the individual and community, from an imaginative and often radical perspective. These explorations range majestically from masks and archetypal images, the threefold constitution in man and woman, the karma of vocation, and the fundamental social law, to the place of work, religion and culture within the threefold social organism, and karma and reincarnation.

These lectures arose from Karl Koenig's experiences in building up Camphill Communities with extraordinary people with special needs. They are important both for the work in Camphill, as well as more broadly in the field of social therapy and beyond.

This is a revised and expanded edition of the Village Conference Lectures of Karl Koenig, previously published as In Need of Special Understanding.

About the Author
Karl Koenig (1902-66) was well-known as a physician, author and lecturer. He began his work at the Institute of Embryology at the University of Vienna. In 1940 he founded the Camphill Movement in Scotland. Based on Rudolf Steiner's insights into human development, the special education schools for children and villages for adults with special needs are now established in many parts of the world.

Reviews

His lectures are easily accesible..., I found them inspiring containing advice that can be lived with, discussed and practised immediately.
--Anna Phillips - Camphill Correspondence Jan/Feb 2010

'Konig's insights in human development ought to be essential reading for all those working in education, healthcare and care, whether special needs or other, such as raising a family. He deserves to be read much more widely outside the Camphill movement I applaud the efforts of the people behind the Karl Konig archive to make his work available in print. It is a tremendous task, not only because of the volume of material but also because of its importance. Serious, yet very accessible; a work not just for Camphill.'
--New View, Summer 2010

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
