Description

A captivating illustrated introduction to the largest hot desert in the world, the Sahara.

Touching every corner of North Africa is the Sahara Desert, one of the wildest habitats on Earth. This is a land of singing sand dunes, barren plains, mirages and glistening oasis pools. Against all odds, life manages to thrive here. Discover river crocodiles, scorpions and foxes, ancient pharaohs, nomadic tribes and camel caravans. With its scorching hot days and night-times that dip below freezing, the Sahara is a land of extremes, where only the tough survive.

Reviews
"Like the other books in this series, this title explores the region's geology, topography, flora and fauna in their habitats (including prehistoric ones), the ancient peoples who inhabited it, and changes past, present, and future. [...] An informative, attractive, and in-depth tour of a land with much to offer." - Kirkus Reviews

Featured on the Children's Book Council's January 2025 'Hot Off The Press' Reading List

"I enjoyed reading this handsome non-fiction book about the Sahara Desert. It's a great overview of the Desert's formation, climate, topography, wildlife, people, and prehistory.
[...] I was especially glad to see several women mentioned in historical passages, and both women and men are portrayed in scenes of settlements. [...] This book is an excellent overview for early elementary school students who want to learn about this fascinating part of the world" - Stephanie Tournas, Youth Services Book Review

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
