Description

"A master at engaging students in the process of performing a Shakespeare
scene." Janet Field-Pickering, head of education, Folger Shakespeare Library

Richard III: The 30-Minute Shakespeare This edition of Richard III features seven scenes, opening with the Duke of Gloucester's villainous "Winter of our discontent" speech and followed by his audacious wooing of Lady Anne. Queen Margaret's chilling curses, Richard's string of murders, and the haunting chants of his victims' ghosts are stage drama at its best. The climax is a gripping battle in which the Earl of Richmond slays Richard and becomes King of England. There is also an essay by editor Nick Newlin on how to produce a Shakespeare play with novice actors, and notes about the original production of this abridgement at the Folger Shakespeare Library's annual Student Shakespeare Festival.

The edition includes a preface by Nick Newlin, containing helpful advice on presenting Shakespeare in a high school setting with novice actors, as well as an appendix with play-specific suggestions and recommendations for further resources.

Nick Newlin has broad experience marketing the Nicolo Whimsey Show to high school and library systems, and incorporates The Thirty Minute Shakespeare into the Nicolo Whimsey website, mailings, school fairs, etc.

We have purchased uccessfully used direct mailing lists from MDR, NACS, and CAMEX in the past, and will purchase new lists for the launch of these titles.

The 30-Minute Shakespeare series is regularly cited by the Folger Shakespeare Library's very active Folger Education program, recognized and used extensively by thousands of high school and college educators and including blogs, webinars, lesson plans, and conferences.

The 30-Minute Shakespeare website was and will include promotional information for the two new plays launching in Fall 2019, HENRY V: THE 30-MINUTE SHAKESPEARE and RICHARD III: THE 30-MINUTE SHAKESPEARE, and both plays will be featured and discussed on the 30-Minute Shakespeare Facebook page, now with over 5,000 fans, as well as Instagram and Twitter.

We set up a very popular booth at the National Council of Teachers of English conference every year, next to Folger Shakespeare Library, and exhibit at Educational Theatre Association Conference annually. The 30-Minute Shakespeare Series will have a booth with Consortium at ALA Convention in Washington, DC in June of 2019, as well as Kensington Book Fair

Nick Newlin has co authored a play Shakespeare's Worst with Emmy Award winning The Simpsons writer Mike Reiss, which has performed to delighted audiences at Bristol Shakespeare Festival and Utah Shakespeare Festival and Newlin publicizes The 30-Minute Shakespeare to a dedicated Shakespeare audience at these events. In Summer 2019 the play will be produced by Capital Fringe Festival at the prestigious and award-winning Arena Stage in Washington, DC.

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
