Reviews
As one of the few general introductions to doing empirical research in linguistics, the third edition remains lucid and clear. Students will gain a good understanding of research methods in linguistics and will learn the key concepts and main approaches. -- Yan Jiang, SOAS University of London, UK
The book does a wonderful job by using many examples with much detail ... [making] it easier for discourse analysts to follow the text and understand the capabilities of the different types of methods, both quantitative and qualitative ... Research Methods in Linguistics provides a useful high-level overview of research methods for linguistic study for a graduate-level seminar-style research method course. * Discourse Studies (of the first edition) *
Very well presented and the topics chosen are very relevant ... Examples are provided in great detail and problems are worked out with detailed explanations, which go a long way in making many of the discussions quite lively and informative ... The book is definitely going to be a useful tool to many researchers. * Linguist (of the first edition) *
An excellent and highly desirable introductory text, which covers all key research approaches and methods in linguistics. The book is written in a user reader-friendly language and engages students in discussion questions. I highly recommend this textbook to anyone who is embarking on the journey of conducting or designing a research project in any subfield of linguistics or to any others who would like to keep up with the development of the field. * Aniko Hatoss, Associate Professor in Linguistics, University of New South Wales, Australia *

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
